There are nine areas of Asgard and once every 5,000 years , where alignment . Earth happens to be one of these areas . These worlds create portals between worlds through harmonization which is called " convergence .

" On the ground , in London , and is believed to Jane Foster and her crew have discovered one of these gate. Foster , while check this phenomenon , and transported to another world , and comes in contact with a substance called ether . When coming into contact with the substance , it paints a bull from Asgard to earth . Thor takes Jane to Asgard to be cured of the ether . Unfortunately in doing so it draws more than just Jane's world . Another object called Malekith wants to use ether to destroy Asgard . Develop a plan with his brother - in a war criminal Loki , Thor heading to the " dark world " for the destruction of ether and save Asgard . But can be trusted Loki ?
